We slowly increase the complexity of the puppies environment as their eyes and ears open and they become more coordinated and their minds can handle problem-solving. We will also let them get themselves in and out of trouble, solving their own problems, while ensuring their safety. All of our efforts focus on making each pup the best that it can possibly be.
Mental Development and Stimulation:

Bio-Sensor exercises from 2-14 days.
We use a puppy exercise pen filled with opportunities for complex problem solving.
*problem solving as in: toys, puzzles and obstacles.
Daily woods walks from 6 weeks on - weather permitting.
Training: conditioned to come, introduction to crates and alone time.
Social Development:
Free access between dam and pups until the pups go home.
Interaction with other dogs of different sizes.
Socialization with many different people, not just their caregiver.
Physical Development:
Swimming in kiddie pool or bath tub - depending on weather.A very large puppy pen filled with physical challenges--moving items and puppy agility equipment.
Introduction to housebreaking as well as litter-box focused training.
Excellent nutritional foundation (see below)
Nutrition:

Raw meaty bones.
Omega 3 supplementation before and after birth for brain development.
Introduction of solid food at 4-6 weeks.
Worming puppies at 2,4 6 and 8 weeks of age.
Microchipping and chip registration with AVID or HOME AGAIN microchips.
We do not remove dew claws or dock tails.
Temperament Assessments are done on ALL Connemara puppies
Conformation: structure and type is important as well
Stephanie, our only daughter moved back home from Japan after also serving in the US Air Force and is now raising our Jack Russell pups along side me and committed to continuing the Connemara way. Sheila and Stephanie are responsible for different litters. In other words; If there are say two (2) litters around the same time, Sheila will raise one while Steph will raise one. This allows for the puppies to be held and socialized properly and families will know their pup received individual attention. Steph lives nearby and her home as well, is open for inspection by prospective puppy families.
